After devoting himself to avant-garde music, in recent years Emanuele Casale has shifted his focus to post-classical composition.

His recent works are inspired by a diverse range of sources, including classical music, peaceful sounds, pop-mainstream culture, underground electronics, kitsch imagery, Camp sensibility, the world of cartoons, and vintage video games.

He has won the following international competitions: first prize in the Irino Prize in Tokyo; first prize in the Reading Panel in Paris; first prize at the IMEB-Bourges; first prize at the GRAME, Centre National de Création Musicale in Lyon; and first prize in both the “juniores” and “seniores” categories of the International Music Council/UNESCO IREM competition. In Italy, he has received awards from Cemat in Rome, the Carloni Foundation in L'Aquila, and the SIAE Award.

His compositions have been performed by numerous concert institutions, including the BBC Symphony Orchestra, Orchestra della Rai, Teatro La Fenice in Venice, Colón Theatre in Buenos Aires, Teatro alla Scala in Milan, Venice Biennale, and many others.

He wrote the video-opera Conversations with Chomsky for the Fondazione I Teatri di Reggio Emilia and the Parco della Musica in Rome. The text for this work was written under the supervision of linguist and political activist Noam Chomsky.

He studied at the Vincenzo Bellini and Licinio Refice conservatories, earning a first-class honours degree.

Emanuele Casale's works are published by Casa Ricordi / Universal Music Publishing Group.
